What is the Palmer Center Foundation?
The Palmer Center Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that exists for the sole purpose of assisting persons with disabilities in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia to improve their quality of life.
What types of grants does the Foundation award?
The foundation awards scholarships and grants. Scholarships may be awarded to post-baccalaureate students or declared education majors who are over the age of 21 and are seriously seeking teacher certification in special education. Grants may be awarded to individuals with disabilities or to organizations that serve individuals with disabilities.
How do I apply for a grant?

What are the criteria for grant approval?
The Palmer Center Foundation Board of Directors meets monthly and considers all grant proposals that meet the requirements and intent of our mission statement. Typically, several grants are awarded each year. If you submit a proposal,the Board of Directors will make every effort to consider it at the next scheduled monthly meeting and to notify you of the result immediately after the decision is made.
Are Board members compensated for their services?
No. Board members receive no compensation of any kind.
What are the Foundation’s operating expenses?
The Palmer Center Foundation occupies an office at 301 Louis Street, Suite 305 Kingsport, Tennessee. Operating expenses for the foundation are approximately 400.00 per month and include rent for office space, telephone, and web site hosting.
